After an year, we are excited here again reviewing Ben Konarov's latest release as he is back with a beautiful song that invites us all to a road trip. But does the Australian songwriter from Brisbane guides us on a “Road To Nowhere” or is it an invitation to a beautiful journey? Let’s find it out!

Ben Konarov delivers this song with the talented vocalist George Alexander that's somewhere between Rock, Folk/Country and Singer - Songwriter and it works perfectly. The intro opens with a beautiful and dreamy but clean guitar riff that instantly takes us into a road trip mood and which also feels very cinematic and nostalgic. The instrumentation in the first verse is classic and steady, but also effective with just guitar, drums and vocals. It feels oddly familiar, as if you’re sitting around a fire and an old close friend starts playing the song that touches your heart and resonates with your own emotions. You feel comfortable as if you’ve sung it with friends before. It’s comforting and has a warmth in the arrangement that it makes you feel as if this song always was a part of your memory.

The chorus makes you want to sing along with the warm and expressive voice while the melody is catchy yet introspective. This part makes the song really shine. As the song progresses, subtle layers of instrumentation are added with soft percussive elements, gentle guitar riffs and an electric lead guitar. All these elements walk perfectly through the song while they are not overwhelming it’s intimacy. The emotional tension builds up into the bridge before resolving back into the catchy chorus. The final chorus feels like an anthem. It feels triumphant and moving forward. The production and arrangement/composition by the multi-talented Gary Cubberley, feels intimate, like a soundtrack for a sunset drive on endless roads. Konarov's lyrics take us on a journey without a clear destination. The narration seeks a clarity and a destination that offers comfort. And the searching for a comfort, could be being with friends to have a beer with, which also can be just home, while learning from life's twists and turns. The importance of companionship is emphasized, with a recurring wish to avoid ending up on a "road to nowhere." The created narrative feels universal but in the same way personal. The lyrics are introspective, balancing a sense of resignation with acceptance and kind of invites us to reflect our own paths in life. It’s emotional honest but also catchy and it’s makes it almost impossible to not sing along. “Road To Nowhere” creates a strong sense of atmosphere. It evokes images of endless roads, sunsets, time with friends and reflective moments during a long drive. It never feels overproduced but only intimate, personal, and universal. Ben Konarov definitely has a talent in storytelling and he captures the universal feeling of being on the journey called life. The song is crafted very well, speaks to the heart and is universally accessible. Put the track on play, start your personal road trip over and over again. Listen below!
